Parkside Chambers is delighted to announce that Raphael Leung has joined as a tenant from 16 September 2023, and Calvin Ng has joined as a tenant from 3 October 2023.

Raphael is a Bar Scholar. He joined Chambers after completing his pupillage with Mr. Andrew Mak, Mr. Osmond Lam, Mr. Vincent Lung, and Mr. Ken To. He also served as marshal to the Hon Mr. Justice Godfrey Lam (as G Lam JA then was), the Hon Madam Justice Queeny Au-Yeung and Her Honour Judge Thelma Kwan.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Raphael obtained first class degrees in Social Sciences and Law at the University of Hong Kong. He then went on to obtain his BCL with Distinction from the University of Oxford as a Trinity College Michael and Judith Beloff Scholar, and was awarded the Trinity College Prize for BCL Performance.

Raphael is developing a broad practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work. He is capable of providing written submissions and conducting hearings in both English and Chinese. Raphael has a particular interest in land, trust and probate matters.

Calvin joined Chambers after completing his pupillage with Mr. Wayne Walsh SC, Mr. Bernard Mak, and Mr. Vincent Lung. Prior to joining Parkside, Calvin trained at Allen & Overy in Hong Kong and London and practised at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in Hong Kong.

As a commercial solicitor, Calvin was a core team member in yearslong projects in which the firm represented world-leading hedge funds and activist investors in contentious and non-contentious matters regarding their investments and other complex commercial transactions. He participated in multi-billion dollar activist investments and campaigns that involved global conglomerates and financial institutions.

In addition, Calvin was seconded to a leading multi-strategy hedge fund for six months, as well as advising other international corporations on a variety of regulatory, investigations, trade and sanctions matters.

Calvin is developing a broad practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work. He is capable of providing written submissions and conducting hearings in both English and Chinese.
