Parkside’s Wayne Walsh SC recently participated as a Judge together with Joseph Tse SC in the final round of The Criminal Law Mooting Competition 2024 organised by the Advocacy and Mooting Society, Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong and sponsored by Haldanes to award overall best team and best speaker. The Moot concerned an appeal from the District Court to the Court of Appeal arising from a conviction of theft by an accountant. The main question of law was whether the District Court Judge erred in disregarding the test for ‘dishonesty’ formulated in Ghosh by instead choosing to adopt the formulation of the UK Supreme Court in Ivey.
