On Friday, 17 May, Parkside hosted a dinner at the The Hong Kong Jockey Club to commemorate Benson Tsoi SC’s elevation to Senior Counsel, following his official appointment on 11 May.
Raising a toast to celebrate Benson, Head of Chambers, Wayne Walsh SC and Clive Grossman KC, SC delivered edifying speeches peppered with humorous anecdotes from Benson’s time as a pupil to a crowded room made up of Parkside’s members and current Secretary for Justice, Mr Paul Lam SC, the Hon Mr Justice Anthony Chan, and Deputy High Court Judge Jonathan Wong (all former members of Parkside). Also in attendance was Benson’s wife, Frances Lok, who similarly took Silk on 11 May 2024.
Benson Tsoi SC delivered a light-hearted speech giving a nod to his former pupil masters and harking back to his time when he first joined Parkside.
All of Parkside’s members gathered to celebrate Benson over champagne and delicious Chinese food in a joyful and convivial setting which looked out over the Happy Valley racecourse.
Benson’s appointment to the Inner Bar makes him the 8th Senior Counsel at Parkside Chambers.
